First day on techs.solar — a short checklist

Six steps to get your account into a useful state on day one. You don’t need to do them all at once — most take a few minutes each — but a homeowner arriving at your profile in the meantime sees the state you leave it in.

  1. Verify your email address. Click the link in the welcome email techs.solar sent you when you signed up. Until you do, the rest of the dashboard stays locked — verification is the first thing you need to clear.

  2. Complete your profile. This is what homeowners see when they find you on techs.solar or when you send them a quote. Fill in business name, logo, tagline, services, service area, certifications, gallery, and contact details. The full list of fields and what each does is in setting-up-your-profile.

  3. Look around your dashboard. The main groups you’ll come back to daily:

    • Sales — your leads, quotes, proposals, and reviews in one place
    • Pre-Sales Tools — calculators you use before quoting: solar potential, ROI, bill savings, cost estimate, panel layout, subsidy check
    • Plants & Monitoring — post-install performance data (once you have installed systems reporting) and Bill Analyzer
    • Group Buying — active Group Purchasing Orders in your country
    • Settings — profile edits, billing, notifications, integrations
  4. Generate a test quote. Nothing commits until you send it, so use a placeholder customer to walk through Quote Generator v2 end-to-end once. Full guide at how-to-create-a-quote. This is the fastest way to understand the platform’s shape.

  5. Check your plan. Free and paid tiers differ in what a homeowner sees on your profile and how many leads you can receive per month — not how many quotes you can send; Quote Generator itself has no cap. If you’re not sure which you’re on, check the Settings → Billing tab. Feature-by-feature comparison at free-vs-paid.

  6. Review notification preferences. Under Settings, decide which events you want emails for: new leads, quote status changes, group order updates, monitoring alerts. Turn off the ones that would be noise, keep the ones you’d act on.

  • Explore active group orders. If techs.solar is running Group Purchasing Orders in your country, you’ll see them in the Quote Generator’s Group Orders shelf. See what-is-gpo for how they work.
  • Import your first customer bill. If you have a homeowner’s electricity bill on hand, Bill Analyzer reads their usage and supply details so you understand their consumption before you sit down to build a quote. It doesn’t build the quote for you — that’s a separate step in Quote Generator v2. Optional, useful when it fits.

That’s it. Anything you don’t finish on day one will still be there tomorrow. Come back when you’ve got a real quote to send.
