Cost Estimator — a ballpark install price by tier

The Cost Estimator is the tool for the first “how much will this cost me?” conversation. Enter a system size, pick a component tier, and get an all-parts-and-labour ballpark broken down by line item — useful before you’ve priced specific brands, before you know the roof, and often before the customer is ready for a formal quote.

Reach for it when the customer wants a number for a rough size and you don’t want to open the Quote Generator yet — fast, editable, a defensible starting figure by cost category. Once the conversation moves toward committing, switch to the Quote Generator for a customer-ready price.

  1. From your sidebar, open Pre-Sales Tools → Cost Estimator.
  2. Enter a System size (kWp) — defaults to 5.
  3. Pick a Component tier: Budget (entry-level, tighter margins), Standard (mid-range, the default), or Premium (top-tier components).
  4. Results update as you type.

A line-item table breaks the total down by component — Panels, Inverter, Mounting, DC/AC Switchboard, Cabling, Labour — followed by Total (excl. VAT), a + VAT @ 6% line, and Total (incl. VAT). The tool always applies the Greek reduced VAT rate of 6% regardless of your account’s country — it doesn’t currently adjust for other jurisdictions.

Per-kWp rates the tool uses today, in € excl. VAT:

Component Budget Standard Premium
Panels 250 350 500
Inverter 80 120 180
Mounting 50 80 120
DC/AC Switchboard 30 60 100
Cabling 30 40 60
Labour 100 150 200
Per-kWp total €540 €800 €1,160

Switchboard is really a fixed cost — the per-kWp figure is a smoothed approximation, good for 3–15 kWp systems and rougher outside that range.

If your actual supplier prices differ, use the Adjust component rates — edit to refine expander below the results. Edits apply for the current session only — nothing is saved, and reopening the tool returns to the defaults. Deliberate: this is a scratch pad, not a place for persistent rates.

Difference from the ROI Calculator’s install cost

Section titled “Difference from the ROI Calculator’s install cost”

Cost Estimator prices components + labour per tier, no permits or grid-connection fees. roi-calculator uses a single all-in figure (€1,300/kWp) that folds those in — so a 5 kWp system shows €4,000 excl. VAT here (Standard) but ~€6,500 all-in there. Both are correct for their purpose: one prices what’s in the crate, the other the total a homeowner pays.

This is a ballpark, not a quote. Use the Quote Generator for a real price with real brand names, quantities, and correctly-applied VAT. If you’re outside Greece, confirm the right VAT treatment with your accountant — this tool’s 6% won’t reflect your local rate.
