Refunds policy — the 14-day money-back window and what happens after
This page describes how refunds work on techs.solar in plain terms. The binding version lives in the Terms of Service you agreed to at checkout — this page helps you understand it and know when to ask. For jurisdiction-specific advice (consumer distance-selling rules, B2B contract law), consult a lawyer — this describes platform behavior, not what a court will decide.
The 14-day money-back guarantee
Section titled “The 14-day money-back guarantee”Every new paid subscription comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. From the moment your first payment is captured, you have 14 days during which you can request a full refund with no reason required. During that window your Billing page shows a visible reminder banner with the exact expiry date and a Contact support link — you don’t have to hunt for it.
The 14 days count from payment capture, not from checkout or authorization. For Founding Member and other delayed-capture flows, that means the clock starts when the payment actually moves — which can be days or weeks after you signed up.
After the 14 days
Section titled “After the 14 days”Once the window closes, refunds move to case-by-case. The same Contact support channel handles them (support@techs.solar), and each request is looked at on its own facts — there’s no fixed published list of what qualifies. If you’re not sure whether your situation counts, ask; support will tell you where your request lands rather than you having to guess in advance.
What refunds cover — and what they don’t
Section titled “What refunds cover — and what they don’t”- In scope: subscription charges (monthly, annual, Founding Member fees), Territory slot fees, other charges made by techs.solar directly to your card.
- Out of scope: anything you paid a third party for (a group order commitment, an installer certification body’s fee, an energy supplier), and any consequential losses of any kind.
For group order (GPO) commitments specifically, the money you commit isn’t a subscription charge and isn’t handled by this policy at all. It’s held in a public escrow program (a smart contract), not in Techs.Solar’s account, and released to the supplier only in stages against signed milestone evidence — never forwarded all at once. Refunds there are automatic and enforced by code: if funding doesn’t complete or a deadline lapses, your unreleased money comes back to you by itself. The signed Member Agreement is the binding source for how those funds are held and returned. See GPO and smart-contract escrow — where your money sits and how it moves for the mechanics and gpo-member-agreement-overview for the terms.
How to request a refund
Section titled “How to request a refund”- Open your Billing page (Settings → Billing)
- Click Contact support (or email
support@techs.solardirectly) - Include your account email, the charge date, and a brief reason
- Support reviews the request and gets back to you with a decision
Once approved, refunds are processed via your original payment method within 5 business days.
The pre-capture cancellation window (different mechanism)
Section titled “The pre-capture cancellation window (different mechanism)”If your payment has been authorized but not yet captured — this applies mainly to Founding Member and similar delayed-capture flows — you can cancel outright within 24 hours from the Billing page. That’s not a refund, it’s a cancellation of the pending authorization, so no money moves at all. See changing-your-plan for the mechanics.
Where to go from here
